Statues in Damme

Statue of Jacob van Maerlant

One of the most known statues in Damme is without any doubt the one of Jacob van Maerlant, the father of all "Dietsche" writers.  It stands centrally on the Market Square of Damme, right in front of town hall.  It was errected in 1860 and is made by the artist H. Pickery.

The horse of Viven

The most known inhabitant of Vivenkapelle is without any doubt the horse of Viven.  This statue is made in bronze by Jef Claerhout.  It was inaugerated in 1977.
